Tucked into the
northwest corner of Prince William Sound, College Fjord, surrounded by
over a dozen glaciers is easily the equal of the much more famous Glacier
Bay. Some of these glaciers have spruce forests growing right up to the
very edge of the ice, giving a sense of scale not seen in Glacier Bay.
Harvard Glacier is the most famous of the College Fjord members and is the
one most cruise ships choose to stop at and admire. The area also abounds
with wildlife and you'll most likely see one or more bird rookeries as you
cruise by. College Fjord's beauty is renowned not only for the many
glaciers, but also for the majestic mountains that line this area and set
it off from the rest of Prince William Sound.
